Syfy announces ‘Caprica’ cancellation

Syfy has announced that Caprica has been cancelled. The network opted to pull the Battlestar Galactica prequel off the air immediately and declared that the remaining five episodes of the show’s solitary season will air in the first quarter of 2011. Syfy executive vice president of original programming Mark Stern revealed that the decision to axe the programme was based on disappointing ratings.

In a statement, Stern said: “We appreciate all the support that fans have shown for Caprica and are very proud of the producers, cast, writers and the rest of the amazing team that has been committed to this fine series. Unfortunately, despite its obvious quality, Caprica has not been able to build the audience necessary to justify a second season.”

  1. Write in campaigns have started. A rabid fan has spoken and is trying to get people organized.
