Syfy announces ‘Caprica’ cancellation

Syfy has announced that Caprica has been cancelled. The network opted to pull the Battlestar Galactica prequel off the air immediately and declared that the remaining five episodes of the show’s solitary season will air in the first quarter of 2011. Syfy executive vice president of original programming Mark Stern revealed that the decision to axe the programme was based on disappointing ratings.

In a statement, Stern said: “We appreciate all the support that fans have shown for Caprica and are very proud of the producers, cast, writers and the rest of the amazing team that has been committed to this fine series. Unfortunately, despite its obvious quality, Caprica has not been able to build the audience necessary to justify a second season.”

NBC cancelled Heroes

Yep another cancelation post :S  NBC has canceled “Heroes.” The network seriously mulled bringing back “Heroes” for a shortened season to wrap up the serialized show, possibly as a two- or four-hour movie. In the end, given the fairly high cost of the drama, the show’s consistently declining ratings and the number of new hour-longs coming to NBC next season, the network decided the UMS-produced series wasn’t worth an additional episode order. Among the network’s new shows, there’s several entries aimed atY genre fans — superhero drama “The Cape,” “24”-style conspiracy thriller “The Event” and J.J. Abrams’ light-hearted spy drama “Undercovers.” Also, of course, “Chuck” is coming back. More to come…

lashForward is reportedly close to cancellation. Last month, reports suggested that the show would be saved because it is successful overseas and has relatively low production costs. However, the programme’s ratings in the US recently slipped to a series low and ABC is now said to be thinking of axing it. According to E! Online, the series’ chances of renewal are now “less than 50-50” :(((( The show’s future will be announced next week during the Upfronts.
